Tracking the Paranormal

Mapping Your World

Ever wonder where Bigfoot hangs out? What about where most UFOs fly by? Explore both with this per capita UFO and Bigfoot sightings map. The map by Kate Berg, which is featured in the 2023 GeoHipster calendar, cross references sightings of both by county.

See what trends or patterns you glean from the map. One we find interesting is that there are a lot of Bigfoot sightings in areas that are largely desert. We thought Bigfoot was a woodlands creature. Also, there are very few of either in Northern Alaska. But maybe if we mapped UFOs and Abominable Snowman sightings that would change. Of course, those Alaska counties are the least densely populated region in the country so if there’s no one there to see Bigfoot or UFOs do they even exist?
